Cozy witch’s book recs: 10 (okay maybe 11) books for when you want to hide from the world

11 Must-Read Cozy Books Across Different Genres

I wanted to share some of the cozy books (from all sorts of genres!) that have stuck with me. Some are part of series I’ve finished, some I’m still working through. I have a habit of starting series and either binging them in one go… or taking forever to finish. I’m exaggerating—maybe not years—but if I’m not fully invested right away, it can take me a while.

That said, I genuinely loved all of these.

1. Lightlark & Nightbane
I still need to finish the rest of this series, but I adore the world. I only got burned out for a bit because I went through a phase where I read nothing but fantasy, so I needed a break. But these books are definitely worth reading.

2–4. Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, & Onyx Storm
If this list were ranked, these would absolutely be at the top. I devoured this series. I listened to the audiobooks while reading the physical copies, and I finished them within days because I literally did nothing but read. Rebecca Yarros, I need more—immediately.

5. Quicksilver by Callie Hart
If you loved the energy of the Fourth Wing series, Quicksilver gives off similar vibes. I absolutely adored it. The second book comes out soon, and I’m treating myself to the special edition with painted edges for Christmas. I might even reread and annotate Quicksilver before diving into the sequel because it deserves all the pretty tabs and highlights.

6–7. Heartless Hunter & Rebel Witch
These are a duology—Heartless Hunter comes first, then Rebel Witch (I accidentally read them out of order). I listened to the audiobooks and later bought the physical copies because I loved the enemies-to-lovers storyline so much. Cozy, romantic, dark, magical. Perfect.

8. The Shadows Between Us
I read this one and listened to the audiobook, I bought the physical book because the painted edges are gorgeous. It’s such a fun, darkly romantic standalone.

9–11. Caraval Series by Stephanie Garber
I have every book in the series and plan to read them all soon. The first book follows one of the sisters, and the second shifts to the other. The whole set looks gorgeous on my shelf, and I can’t wait to get lost in the full series.

Even though I technically mentioned eleven books, some were part of the same series. These are the pretty, special books I keep on the top of my shelf—the ones I refuse to part with because they meant so much to me.

My 12-year-old was recently counting my shelves and insisted I have over 100 books. He’s probably exaggerating… though I do have another “give a book, take a book” shelf for friends, so maybe he’s not completely wrong.

Thanks for letting me gush about some of my favorite cozy reads. Whether you love fantasy, romance, or something in between, I hope this list gives you your next comfort book. If you’ve read any of these—or have recommendations I should add to my shelves—let me know. I’m always looking for my next cozy escape.
