What’s one habit that has improved your life the most?
One habit that has improved my life the most is definitely reading. It’s one of my biggest hobbies and one of my favorite forms of self-care. I work in mental health, where taking care of myself isn’t just important—it’s necessary. Escaping into a fantasy world gives me a chance to disconnect from the stress of everyday life and recharge so I can continue helping others. Every now and then, I also enjoy diving into a good thriller.
Writing is another habit that has a positive impact on my life, although it’s something I’ve often pushed aside. Lately, though, I’ve been making a conscious effort to dedicate more time to it, and that’s been a huge win in my book.
It’s been a busy weekend, but after decorating my personal laptop with my new book and writing stickers, I wanted to make it a point to sit down and write a longer post tonight. My goal is to write at least three posts a week and build a regular writing routine again.
I love being a mom, a wife, and a crisis interventionist, but I also love feeling like my best self. Focusing on the things I enjoy most—reading and writing—helps me stay connected to that version of myself. After a long weekend, I don’t want to find myself feeling burnt out, so staying up a little later tonight just to carve out some “me time” feels completely worth it. I want to make more space for the parts of me that exist beyond the many roles I have, because taking care of myself helps me show up even better for the people who count on me.
